I guess the difference between a mailing list and someone sending something out to a mailing list is that a mailing list is the source of your list, whereas you get to decide what goes out to your list, whereas if you decide to send something to a mailing list it goes to someone.
The problem with a mailing list is that you have to decide who gets which mail. If you send something out to a mailing list it goes to a bunch of people. If you decide to send something to a mailing list, it’s going to a single person. So why bother? So I guess you get to decide who gets what mail.
The reason we didn’t get a mailing list is because it’s a mailing list. It’s more like a general list of the people we are interested in, not just the list of people who we can send your mailing list to. This list was created for the list of people who I’m actively looking for my mailing list to send. A mailing list makes it easier for me to find my mailing list.
